Even on this rainy day, the highlands of Scotland have stolen my heart. The exquisite landscape of munros (mountains), glens (valleys), and lochs (lakes), the sheep and highland cattle, and the castle ruins throughout have all told their stories of this land. Conner and I embarked on a 360 mile tour from Glasgow, which included driving the entirety of Loch Lomond (24 miles), through the Great Glen, past the Three Sisters and Ben Nevis, all along Loch Ness, and back south to Glasgow once more. (And that's the condensed version of the route!) That also doesn't include the amazing sites we saw, some of which included the Comando Memorial (in remembrance of those who lost their lives in WWII), the mountains in which Skyfall was filmed, a forest in which Harry Potter was filmed, a 310 year old haunted inn, and the Standing Stone of Onich. We also saw Sterling Castle, the Wallace Monument, and the most remarkable rainbow I've ever seen! A huge highlight of my day was being able to stick my toes in Loch Ness and take a cruise down it, on which we got to appreciate the ruins of the Urquhart Castle. I didn't get to see Nessie, but at least I can say I was in the water with her. I'm amazed at all I was able to learn and witness today, and I don't think I will fully be able to absorb it for a while. I'm a lucky girl getting to see this amazing world from all different aspects. Sad to be departing in the morning, but I know we spent these days to their fullest!
