My recovery Sunday consisted of a breakfast outing to Cafe Sofia with Conner, followed by a stroll around the city where we found ourselves trying out another cafe for their dessert and coffee, and finally locating a cool pub called the Hairy Lemon to watch the Gaelic Football Championships. Yesterday was the big Dublin vs. Kerry match up for the finals, and what better time to be introduced to the new sport than being smack dab in the city where the game is being held!
After some Smithwicks, grand pub grub, and a rainy match that Dublin ended out on top of, our Irish football experience concluded. It's such a different, neat sport full of action (and a bit of confusion on my end), and I highly recommend checking out a video of it! I even got to enjoy some American football at the campus clubhouse after returning to UCD after the match. Definitely two different types of football!
Today, I woke at 7:45 to my wake up call (the construction outside my window) and began my day. I know many of you are questioning this thing I've been calling "study" abroad with all of my adventures and little class time, but I actually did a homework assignment today. I'm studying, pinky promise! After my homework, I met up with friends over coffee, then met other friends for lunch, and followed that with an afternoon yoga class at the recreational center. I do a lot of yoga on my own at home, but I have never attended a structured class until today. I'm glad to be provided with such great free classes where I can do the things I love and enjoy with other students!
Lastly, I joined a new club today. I became part of the UCD Canoe Club. The club goes on weekend trips, does pool sessions, and has social events throughout the week. Can't wait to see where I end up throughout the semester with the club and how many new, awesome people I will encounter! I love the challenge of trying something new and putting myself out there. It's in these times that I find I grow the most.
Today marks 3 weeks since I arrived here in Ireland. The time is starting to slip away already. I have been keeping busy from day to day and soaking it all in and don't plan to slow down at all. No better time than the present!
