This Monday marked the first day of classes here at UCD, and I must say it was a huge success seeing as I didn't have one actual class. Even without classes, I did end up learning a few valuable lessons. I learned that I need to pay better attention when buying laundry soap (as I bought only fabric softener), that you should always try to push AND pull the door before you assume you're locked out, and that doing laundry in the dorms (no matter where in the world you are) will always take up the majority of your day. After borrowing some generous girl's laundry detergent and several hours later, I have clean clothes to wear!
After spending the afternoon shopping in the city centre, my roommates and I got to spend the evening cooking dinner together and enjoying each others company. I know that it will be a spectacular year with the three of them. (Morgan is from Indiana, Jena is from Philadelphia, and Fiona is from China) We have a diverse group of some sweet girls, and I can't wait to see what's in store for us all!
Today I actually began my classes! It was my real first day of my senior year of college (a bit nostalgic). I will be studying Non-ruminant Animal Production, Animal Reproduction, Food and Agribusiness Strategy, and Irish Studies this semester. In my first class, we talked about the swine industry (and will mainly be talking about it for the whole semester), which made me very excited since I'm so familiar from working all this past summer at a 10,000 sow unit. Each of my classes so far, I have been comfortable with the material. I am looking forward to discovering more about each class from this new perspective!
After a full day of class and an evening ice cream date, I'm ready for a good nights sleep. The days are beginning to pass quickly! I plan to be well rested so that I can cram each day full of new activities and memories made. :)
