Friday was the first full sunny day Dublin had seen in a couple weeks, so even with my cold I took full advantage of the beautiful day. I walked all over the city from Grafton Street to Camden street and all down the Liffey. I got some preliminary souvenir shopping done before having myself a lunch at Peter’s Pub. I had the best tomato soup with bread and a hot port to warm up before heading to Conner’s apartment. In the evening we had our last roommate dinner together. Fiona, Jena, Morgan, and I (along with a couple extras, Bradley and Conner), met up in the evening at Jimmy Chung’s Chinese buffet in Dublin. It was bittersweet swapping stories, talking about random things like the horrible Philadelphia sports teams, and laughing all together for the last time here in Ireland. As we were sitting there, we all agreed that it felt like it was just yesterday that we had met and were about to begin the semester. I’m so lucky to have had them as roommates and gotten to become such great friends. We have made some great memories over the past few months. After dinner, we went out to JW Sweetman Brewery for a few drinks and listened to some great live music before calling it a night.
Saturday was just another rainy day in Ireland (good thing I took advantage of Friday!) but Conner and I still ventured out to do some more souvenir shopping and so that we could try somewhere new for lunch that we had been wanting to try. We went to O’Briens for lunch and after walking around until our pants were soaked through, we decided that Netflix sounded more inviting until Paul would meet us later on. So we watched a few episodes of Supernatural before going to pack up my belongings at UCD and moving them to Conner’s since I have to be moved out by the coming Friday! It took until Saturday for me to figure out how much stuff I have accumulated since arriving.. packing to go home in a couple weeks will be quite interesting to say the least. After we got everything settled into Conner’s, we went to dinner at Stir Crazy, a noodle restaurant. Following, we went to have a few pints at the Stags Head. The place was swamped with people of all ages decorated head to toe in Christmas attire as this is the time of year that the Irish like to do the 12 pubs of Christmas with their closest friends. People-watching at pubs has become a highlight here in Dublin!
On Sunday, you guessed, it rained again! Conner and I spent the day studying for our upcoming exams this week, so it was a pretty uneventful time.
Today, we went to Third Space to study for a few hours before coming back to eat in for lunch. I walked to the Post in the rain to pick up a package for Conner (that they couldn’t find) and when I got back decided that this lingering cold wouldn’t stop me from going on a run. It had been a week, so I decided it was enough time and went on a run through Phoenix Park, which I hadn’t done since the half marathon! It is such an awesome running environment.
For dinner, Conner and I went back to the Bleeding Horse, which is one of our favorites. Of course I had to get the fish and chips! We are trying to go to all our favorite places and eat our favorite food before we leave! It was a nice study break, as well as writing this blog. Send us luck from back home as Conner has 3 exams this week and I have one Friday.
