I was able to spend a fine Saturday at my friend Paul's house in Co. Meath. I got to help his mom make stew and an apple tart, we got to watch the sunset at The Hill of Tara, and then we got to to watch the Purdue football game on a huge projector. I'm so thankful for yesterday because it really made me feel at home. Nothing like a home cooked meal with the best of friends and some Purdue football (no matter how bad it was) to bring me back to my Indiana roots.
The Hill of Tara was so cool to see, especially after learning about in class. The different sites were intriguing and then seeing all the sheep grazing without a clue as to the importance of the land they call home was slightly amusing. It was cloudy out but as the sun was setting, they opened a bit and soaked the land in rays of oranges and reds. It's amazing to me that no sunset is the same and no picture can do it justice, just observing it for all that it's worth is the best way to do it.
Then, this morning, I got to the Dublin airport at 4:45 to get on a plane to head to Barcelona, Spain! Surprise everyone, I'm in a new country! I arrived and spent the late morning and early afternoon adding a new array of blisters to my feet from walking through the Gothic area and the Ramblas and many other parts of the city (and I've hardly made a dent!). I followed that with a run that led me to the Arc de Triumph.
Finally, Alyshia got to our hostel this evening at around 6! I'm always so excited to be reunited with one of my best friends. It's amazing how we met a year and a couple months ago and have traveled and experienced so much together. We enjoyed an amazing full course dinner including tapas, seafood paella, and sangria. I'm looking so forward to the next few days ahead of us here in Barcelona together. Can't wait for all the memories we will create to add to the many we have already.
